Job Description

At Tako, we're reinventing how people discover and understand the world through succinct, visual depictions of authoritative data. We craft extraordinary visual experiences that transform complex data into intuitive, explorable stories – whether you're diving into global demographics, sports analytics, or financial trends. Our visualizations serve as dynamic mini-encyclopedias, enriching AI-powered search experiences for millions of users across platforms like Perplexity and Liner. We're proud to work with authoritative data sources to ensure our visualizations aren't just beautiful, but truthful and substantiated. As we expand into new domains and push the boundaries of AI search, we're looking for a visionary designer who shares our passion for making knowledge both accessible and captivating.

Responsibilities

We are seeking a talented and passionate designer who will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity and user experience of Tako’s products. As the founding full-time designer, you will have a unique opportunity to drive the design vision/culture from the ground up, working closely with our early engineering team to build a beautiful, sleek, and impactful product. If you thrive in a fast-paced startup environment and are excited by the prospect of creating intuitive and stunning data visualizations and interfaces, we want to hear from you.

What you will do:

  • Lead the design of Tako’s products, from concept to execution, ensuring a cohesive and user-centric visual language
  • Collaborate closely with engineers to create seamless and efficient user experiences that delight our customers
  • Design intuitive and visually compelling knowledge cards and data visualizations that simplify complex information
  • Develop and iterate on design systems that will scale with Tako as we grow
  • Engage with customers to gather feedback and refine design solutions to meet their needs
  • Advocate for best practices in design and usability, ensuring Tako’s products are both functional and beautiful

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of design experience
  • A strong portfolio showcasing your ability to design clean, intuitive, and efficient interfaces
  • A passion for creating beautiful and impactful products that users love

What gives you an edge:

  • Experience working in a startup environment, with the ability to iterate quickly and adapt to changing requirements
  • Experience visualizing data
  • A desire to be part of a team that values creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning
