The Supervisor Follow-Up Billing for the Central Billing Office (CBO) is responsible for the overall management and organization of the billing and follow up functions performed in the CBO.
Responsibilities:
• Supervises all areas of the CBO ensuring that billing and follow-up, collections functions are performed timely and accurately.
• In the Manager’s/Director’s absence, manages all areas of the CBO ensuring that billing, collections, customer service, cashiering and cash posting functions are performed timely and accurately.
• Prepares and maintains employee work schedules ensuring efficient workflow by continuously analyzing and evaluating productivity, staffing levels and work methodology.
• Conducts an appropriate orientation program for all new employees.
• Provides continuous computer or process training to staff as the need is identified by monitoring management reports and auditing work functions.
• Conducts monthly staff meetings utilizing approved departmental agenda.
• Maintains compliance with standards and requirements by the hospital, JCAHO and DHEC. 8. Evaluates, rewards, counsels and disciplines employees regarding work performance, conduct and attendance in accordance with hospital and departmental policies.
• Coordinates purchasing of supplies and maintenance of all equipment in department.
• Establishes and maintains excellent relationships with all customers.
• Assists and supports other departments when needed.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience : 3 to 5 years of experience in a hospital billing environment required. 2 to 5 years experience in a supervisory role in a healthcare billing or central business office environment preferred.
Education : Associate’s degree required. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Equivalent combination of Experience and Education may be substituted for degree requirement.
Licenses / Certifications : HFMA certification preferred.
Other: Must be familiar with health care insurance billing issues, and federal and state billing compliance issues for hospitals. Demonstrated knowledge of CPT-4 codes and ICD-9-CM codes is required.
