The BI & Data Warehouse Developer plays a key role in developing and maintaining the company’s enterprise data architecture and business intelligence environment. This role is responsible for designing data pipelines, building reports and dashboards, and supporting data governance practices. With full ownership over BI and warehouse development projects, this position enables data-driven decision-making across departments by ensuring data is reliable, accessible, and actionable.

TOTAL COMPENSATION

$89,300.00 to $130,700.00 annually

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Data Pipeline & Warehouse Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT processes to integrate data from multiple internal and cloud-based systems.
  • Build and maintain data warehouse tables, views, and staging areas to support analytics and reporting.
  • Ensure performance tuning and optimization of queries, datasets, and storage architecture.

Data Governance & Stewardship

  • Establish and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders to define data definitions, ownership, and usage standards.
  • Implement data quality controls and monitoring solutions to identify and resolve data issues.

Collaboration & Support

  • Partner with data analyst to ensure data solutions meet business requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for data-related projects, including integrations, migrations, and platform upgrades.
  • Support user training and documentation for data access and interpretation.

Compliance & Security

  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, CCPA) and internal security protocols.
  • Manage data classification, access controls, and audit trails in the data warehouse environment.

Business Intelligence Development & Analytics

  • Build BI dashboards, visualizations, and data models using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Translate business requirements into functional data structures and self-service reporting solutions.
  • Implement reusable datasets, KPIs, and calculated fields in BI platforms for operational teams.
  • Responsible for continuous development and improvement of reported data.
  • Other reporting and analysis as required.

  • Demonstrates strong logical reasoning and the ability to synthesize complex datasets to identify trends, inconsistencies, or potential areas for improvement.
  • Applies root cause analysis techniques to investigate data anomalies or system failures.
  • Leverages data to develop actionable recommendations and scalable solutions that support business goals and strategic decision-making.

Data Architecture & Design

  • Demonstrates working knowledge of dimensional modeling, star/snowflake schemas, and best practices in data warehouse design.
  • Builds intuitive and high-performing data structures for reporting and visualization.
  • Understands best practices in designing for scalability, data lineage, and long-term maintenance.

Quality Assurance & Attention to Detail

  • Maintains a high standard of accuracy and precision in data handling, reporting, and documentation.
  • Develops automated testing and data validation routines to ensure completeness, consistency, and accuracy across data pipelines.
  • Monitors for data drift, duplication, and corruption, and proactively mitigates risks through governance policies.

Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate with business users to understand reporting and analytics needs and develop automated solutions that reduce manual effort.
  • Communicates effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to gather requirements, explain findings, and align priorities.
  • Builds trust with data stewards, business units, and leadership by ensuring data reliability and transparency.
  • Acts as a liaison between IT teams, analysts, and business functions to ensure shared ownership and accountability for data assets.

BI Tools & Development (New subheading or integrate into existing sections)

  • Proficient in business intelligence tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to develop dashboards, reports, DAX/MDX queries, and publish content for stakeholders.

Adaptability & Continuous Learning

  • Stays up to date on evolving data technologies, governance regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Adapts to new tools, environments, and organizational changes with agility and a growth mindset.
  • Seeks feedback and opportunities to continuously improve processes, skills, and system performance.

Preferred :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience with data warehousing, ETL/SQL processes, and data governance practices.
  • Experience building interactive dashboards and data models in a cloud-based BI environment.
  • Familiarity with version control systems and collaborative development practices (e.g., Git, DevOps for BI).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods of time, including uneven terrain on work sites when needed. Ability to bend, kneel, crouch, reach, twist, list, carry, push, and/or pull 25 lbs. occasionally for filing and storage access, etc. Ability to maneuver paperwork and use a computer screen for extended durations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

A potential mix of office-based and mobile-office-trailer-based work, with far more time generally spent in the office, with varying temperatures and extended screen time.
